Dear Runner,

It is with great regret that the ABP 2020 Southampton has now been cancelled and we will return on Sunday 25th April 2021. The ongoing Covid-19 crisis is still heavily impacting on leisure events and a further re-schedule in 2020 was not possible. We have been closely monitoring Government advice and health and safety has been our top priority - for our runners, volunteers and all team members it takes to put on this great event -  We have therefore made the extremely difficult decision to cancel this year's event.

ReesLeisure is a small local company and we have had a full 11 months of costs up to this point including staffing, advertising and finisher tees and medals. You are entitled to a full refund however I would ask if you would consider one of the following options to help us through this tough time:

OPTION 1 - Virtual Run
Claim your 2020 tee and medal. Sign up to run the event virtually, either around the route if you live nearby or complete your own route and submit your evidence. We have Finisher tees and medals from this year's event including 10k, Half marathon and Full Marathon. The cost is £15 and includes your tee, medal and postage and packaging. This will enable us to recover some of our costs.

OPTION 2 - Defer to 2021 or 2022 Event
Almost 25% of your ticket fee is spent on marketing from facebook ads, local media, billboards and more. This budget has already been spent getting the runners to sign up to the 2020 event. If you would like to run the event again in future, please help us save this cost by deferring your place.

OPTION 3 - Defer to Winchester Half 2020 or 2021

Currently, Winchester Half is still being run on Sunday 20th September 2020. As this is a much smaller event (only 2,000 runners), and is at the end of September (almost 6 weeks after the planned date for ABP Southampton event), we are more hopeful that this event will be feasible. You can log into your account and action this HERE:

OPTION 4 - Sign up to 2021 on a payment plan

If you have NOT already signed up to 2021 event, you can now do so on a payment plan. This means the cost of the event is split over the number of months from sign up to 1st April next year. This helps us to know who is interested, what t-shirt size you are and enables us to plan the event according to the numbers interested - more importantly, it allows you to spread the cost of your event. So sign up now for just £3 per month and get a monthly reminder to start your training:

Option 5 - Refund
If you require a refund and cannot make it to Winchester Half, ABP 2021 or 2022 we can issue a full refund. Please note this will take some time to process but we are aiming to get all refunds completed by end of August for you.

Please note that we have very minimal team still able to work at this time - they are trying their hardest to respond to each and every one of our 10,000 runners individually, so please be aware that there is likely to be a delay before your queries are replied to. We thank you in advance for your patience.

Thank you for all your support, it has been a real rollercoaster through 2020 to date with continually evolving and incredibly challenging times worldwide. We know many of you will find this news disappointing and we are a little heartbroken as we have never had to cancel this event before - however we are working really hard to get as many fantastic opportunities as possible for you to keep up your training, motivation and have goals to work towards. We've got some more exciting news in the pipeline that will be released at the end of this month and throughout the summer so please do check out the ReesLeisure Club and keep an eye on your emails for more news.

We hope you enjoy the extra time in the amazing weather and we look forward to seeing you on one of our Start lines again soon,

Kind regards,

Chris Rees and Nikki Rees
